About

Daniel Burns was born in Charleston, West Virginia and raised in Parkersburg, West Virginia. After graduating from Parkersburg High School in 2004, he was awarded a Promise Scholarship and attended West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia. In May 2008, Daniel graduated summa cum laude from West Virginia University’s John Chambers College of Business and Economics with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a minor in Communication Studies.

During his final year of his undergraduate education, Daniel was introduced to the legal profession through courses from employment law and labor law. Following his graduation, Daniel pursued his passion for the law and enrolled at the West Virginia University College of Law. In addition to his studies, Daniel pursued his passion for employment and labor law, assisting professors on reach papers on these subjects and being a member of the WVU College of Law Alternative Dispute Resolution and Labor Law Societies. During his final year of school, Daniel was a student-attorney in the College of Law’s Entrepreneurship Law Clinic, which was tasked with assisting new and current businesses in the greater Morgantown area. Knowing that he had a passion for advocacy, Daniel also served as a member of the Lugar Trial Association and competed in the ABA Labor and Employment Law Mock Trial Competition in Chicago, Illinois.

Following his graduation in 2011, Daniel returned to his hometown and began working for a law firm specializing in Social Security law assisting individuals in obtaining benefits through the Social Security Administration. In 2012, Daniel and his family relocated to Beckley, West Virginia as he took a position with a regional insurance defense firm. Over the past twelve years, Daniel has spent time in and out of the courtroom defending a wide variety of lawsuits including personal injury, employment law, medical malpractice, commercial liability, premises liability, business law, criminal law, and child abuse and neglect. Daniel has participated in numerous civil trials, both in state and federal court, across the State of West Virginia and has appeared before the West Virginia Supreme Court on several occasions on behalf of his clients. His work over the past twelve years has resulted in a Notable Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell in Ethical Standards and four consecutive years of being recognized as a Rising Star in Civil Litigation by Super Lawyers.

In October 2024, Daniel joined the Katz, Kantor, Stonestreet & Buckner team in the Beckley, West Virginia Office. He is currently accepting clients in personal injury, employment, and medical malpractice matters in West Virginia. He is admitted to practice in the State of West Virginia, the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia, the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

When he is not fighting his battles in the courtroom, Daniel is dedicated to his family and his community. Daniel and his wife, Linsey, have two daughters and he spends countless hours each year volunteering with their schools and youth sports. Daniel also serves on various boards and committees dedicated to the success and growth of Raleigh County including the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce, the West Virginia Real Estate Appraisal Licensing and Certification Board, West Virginia State Bar’s Unlawful Practice of Law Committee, the Raleigh County Deputy Sheriff’s Civil Service Commission, and several others.
